Bapak Yusuf Rembon from Rantepao, South Sulawesi

He started as a buffalo herder of a buffalo herd owner. That time, Mr. Yusuf was paid one hundred thousand rupiahs each week. After having enough experience, Mr. Yusuf started to think to start the business seriously. He was trusted by the herd owner at that time because of his honesty. Therefore, he was given money by the owner to buy one or two buffalos to be sold again. Afterwards, he knows the profit that was earned by the owner. It was the starting point for Mr. Yusuf to start the Buffalo business. “Honesty and trust have to be held by everyone. This was the reason that I was given money to buy one or two buffalos and tried to sell them. Finally, I decided to start my own business,” said Mr. Yusuf. The buffalos were being sold by going around Tana Toraja on a car. This was how Mr. Yusuf sells them for 2 years. Until one day, Mr. Yusuf started to think to grow the business. He was joined to be members of KSP Sahabat Mitra Sejati and get a business loan. Even though there were many who sell Buffalos in Bolu Market, it didn’t challenge Mr. Yusuf to mingle with other sellers in the market.

This success pushed Mr. Yusuf to try another business. Since he met Sahabat UKM in 2016, Mr. Yusuf started a flat renting business. He said there are a lot of universities in Toraja that people outside of the city wants to enter. Surely, they will need to reside as they study. It is a realistic way of thinking from Mr. Yusuf “Everyone surely has the will to grow. Not only growing the businesses that they run, but also grow as in trying to start a new business which people haven’t thought of. Fortunately, there are several universities here that are chosen by students from out of the city. Surely, they need a house to reside in while they study. Luckily, I had an empty land nearby a university here. I used the land to built flats,” he said.
